2 days post op - My arms are hot, red and hurt

Okay... I'm two days post op... I got out of the hospital yesterday, though I've concluded I should have stayed another night because I've had several melt downs and the gas is horindous... the IV pain meds made me think I was feeling better than I was... and when I got home and they wore off, boy!! I am having a hard time with pain management.

but, the worst thing... my arms!! they are hot to the touch, others touch too... they are just burning up!! I'm running a low grade temperature, but only like 99.5. And my arms hurt!!

I did talk to my doctor today about several things... including my arms. I was advised to hold cold wash clothes under my underarms.

He is also prescribing me some xanax because I just can't sleep. I doze... that's it...doze and wake... doze and wake... I keep thinking I would just feel better if I could sleep!!

Is this common?

i'm sorry youre in so much pain. i stayed an extra night in the hospital for the pain control. you might just need to walk and try to get that gas from the lap to dissolve. once that does, you should start to feel better very quickly. if your pain med isnt really helping, ask your dr for something different. did he give you 800mg motrin to take inbetween pain meds?
did you have both ovaries removed or were you able to keep one?

I had only one ovary removed... but perhaps the other one is in shock?

Yes, if I could do it all over again, I would have stayed another night. I was in a hurry to get out. The gas is very slowly working it's way out.

My arms though really arn't comfortable...

My doctor gave me naproxen to take in between pain meds, and today I am getting some xanax to help me sleep. He seems to think my anxiety level is very high (he's probably right)

I am really quite suprised by my husbands reaction... but it could be my hormones and emotions... he seems like he is in a bad mood...

my husband (now ex) was in a bad mood too. he said he didnt think it would be such a big deal
your ovaries might be in shock. plus you just went through major surgery with an organ being removed. your body needs time to adjust. maybe a decent nights sleep will help with your arms.

I hope you are feeling better. I just got home a few hours ago from my surgery. I stayed last night in the hospital and decided to "bail out" this afternoon. I'm hurting and I think its gas, I just want to go to sleep too. Hope we all have a good night's rest. I'll write more 2morrow.

I did the doze wake routine for several days, and I so wanted some good sleep....it did finally come... and I felt a lot better, I send you hugs.. feel better, hang in there, you will feel better soon! I wish you cool arms and good sleep!!!
