Does anyone else have a problem with being itchy? I have to take Benadryl every day or it drives me crazy. It's not the incision it's all over. Thanks for any help.

Hello Cindy,

Are you still on pain meds? Some of them list itchiness as a side effect.

Are you on meds.??

I'm not a Dr, but some pain medicine can and will make you itchy. I had a problem with percocet. Made me itch like crazy !! You may want to call the Dr. if you think it's your meds. Hope you stop itching soon. Good luck to you !!

I'm not on any thing but Tylenol PM at night. I stopped Percocet the first night home as I had an allergic reaction to it--- Rash, swelling, itching, nausea. I didn't know if hormones could cause this or what.

I see you are a few weeks post-op. Are you still taking narcotics for pain releief? Some allergic reactions take 14-21 days to show up. I am allergic to a lot of narcotics and that was the indicator...all over body itchy!!!
If you dr also prescribed antibiotics as a preventative, you may be allergic to that too.

Cindy!!

I itch too. A couple of weeks ago, I scratched myself to the point where I was bruised all over. This started 4 days after I started taking hormones, 2 days after starting an antibiotic, and the same day that I recieved intravenous contrast.

I did have a reaction to the contrast but the itching and rash haven't stopped. I am no longer on the antibiotics and I have switched hormones but the the rash and itching persists.

I don't know if the itching continues because I need more estrogen or if I need to switch hormones again. I can't ingest soy protein fillers without experiencing gastrointestinal distress and I have discovered that both forms of estrogen that I have tried are vegetable based (soy included).

My itching worsened this very evening. My skin is more red. Add to this, I have felt some additional hot-flashes. Is it hormones or is it an intolerance to the ingredients in the hormones? You know, I would be feeling great if I could just grow new skin. Steroids and strong anti-histamines only offered minor help. I itch and I have a red, bumpy rash. I want it to stop. But how?

I had the same problem with an itchy rash. I called the dr last week and was given an antihistimine. It is not any better in fact it is worse. I have tried every anti-itch cream on the market and nothing works. My chest is covered with red bumps and all I do is itch. It keeps me awake at night. I went for my 4 wk check up today and the dr prescribed steroids for the itching. I'm a little afraid to take them since on of the side effects is not sleeping and I hardly sleep now.

just be careful with the benadryl! i had an allergic reaction to the morphine at the hospital and it made me itch to the point i was ripping my skin apart almost. they put me on benadryl and next thing i know is drs and nurses standing over saying to breathe...blood pressure and oxygen level went way way down. so be careful.

It seems odd I just posted this problem of itching yesterday and today I had my first non-Benadryl day--no itching. I hope it stays this way. I wish the same for all you other itching sisters. s
