diaphragm pain 1 month after hysterectomy

This is my first post and I hope not a silly question. I had a LATVH, my left ovary removed and both tubes. My dr told me she would push hard on my stomach to help remove the carbon dioxide so i would not have too much shoulder pain when I woke up. I am now at 1 month post op and my diaphragm hurts a lot also my upper stomach muscles are looser than they used to be. Clothing that touches my rib cage feels like rubbing a bad bruise. When I saw my doctor, the next day in the hospital after my surgery, she told me I had a tight abdominal wall and had to have another physician complete my surgery. I did not have any adhesions, no prior surgeries, and I do not have children. The other physician, was a male, and did the pushing instead of her. Is it normal to have pain in your diaphragm 4 weeks after surgery? I only found the site a few days ago and wish I found it sooner. I am sorry for the long post but wanted to provide all the details I could. Thank you to everyone for being brave enough to share and having the compassion to help others.

If your upper stomach muscles are looser than they used to be, then your diaphragm's not getting as much support from them as it's used to. I didn't experience pain, but I did have some shortness of breath. What helped me was breathing exercises. Inhale deeply, then focus on using your abdominal muscles to *push* the air back out of your lungs. I did these at random moments, such as while sitting on the toilet, waiting for the tea kettle to boil, etc. It seemed to help.

Also ask your doctor when you can be cleared for abdominal muscle exercise. It'll probably be in another couple of weeks. https://www.hystersisters.com/vb2/art...m#.VI2r1Hnwvcs has some ideas for gentle exercises to start off with.
