Hysterectomy Haiku

Hi everyone,

I am scheduled for a TVH on 3/2/09. Processing and preparing and using the wisdom of this site!

Felt overwhelming emotion the other day, and usually when I get over that I have a spell of creativity. SO I did a lot of journaling and ended up writing this Haiku, thought I would share.

Letting go of womb
Spring seeds planted elsewhere now
Blossoming remains

Hugs to all,

A thought provoking prose. Thank you. This website has really helped me alot. I wish I had known about it sooner than my surgery date. I journal alot too - it really helps with the emotions. I wish I had creativity though.
Best Wishes! to you.

Hysterectomy Haiku

I LOVE this haiku. Thank you so much for putting it here. Even though my surgery was done on 1/2/09, reading the haiku was helpful to me too.

I am a visual artist and pottery teacher. When I was at the university studying art, I did a whole series of art having to do with my life, and the "comma" shape was prominent. It was a metaphor for me as a single mother.

My journey has included a difficult time of coming to terms with the surgery that I needed and would not have otherwise chosen. There's a thread on Aching Hearts that I wrote when I said "I still don't want to do it... how to say goodbye?" The story of how I did say goodbye (in a dream) that is contained there is too long to type again, but I'm sure you can find it if you're interested. The poem really relates to what I "saw" in the dream.

Keep the faith. The whole experience looks a lot different from this side of the castle. I have come to terms with my surgery, feel comfortable about it, and look forward to life without the problems I was having.

Thank you both for your kind words. I am sure I am making the right decision about having my surgery, given my medical history, but that does not mean I am happy about it...at least yet. I feel like I am grieving a bit and disappointed with my body somehow, though lately I am getting closer to having sympathy for my body and all it has been through. SO I think I am making progress. It is such a journey.

I am going to look for your dream in Aching Hearts, Veejay, thank you.

Hugs,
