Feeling full but not eating

I think i posted this in the wrong forum before...

Hi
i had my Total Hysterctomy last friday, 9-28. Spent the night in the hospital bladder wouldn't wake up and i couldn't walk and nausia wouldn't go away. I was sent home the next day, but over the last few days i have had such a feeling of fullness in my stomac I feel like i at a loaf of bread and drank a gallon of water. When i do eat i feel like the food is just building up in my stomach into my throat. Has anyone else experienced this? I keep searching but haven't found any related links.

Re: Feeling full but not eating

You might check with your doctor. That sounds a little odd.

I had a similar feeling - my stomach (and bladder and bowels) felt bruised the first few weeks post-op. I didn't have much of an appetite the first couple of weeks, but I didn't have the throat issue you mentioned. I did feel a little less bruised over time, and the feeling was pretty much gone after about five weeks.

Re: Feeling full but not eating

After my surgery I didn't have too much as an appetite either. Try eating small meals throughout the day may help, as well as easy availability of favorite foods. Try eating high-protein foods first is important, because protein is needed for healing. I did not have the bloating full feeling but I would eat small meals.

Re: Feeling full but not eating

I have that feeling. I think it relates to slow or no bm. that's my problem.

I feel similar (TVH 10/1). I have next to no appetite and when I do eat, the food doesn't taste like much. I also have a weird feeling in my throat but I suspect that's due to a gassy stomach and too much coffee.

Re: Feeling full but not eating

I had that problem early out too , my doctor told me as long as I was getting lots of fluids not eating was not a problem. I was having problems then with even fluids not tasting right. Hubby made me a big pot of chicken stew and drained the broth for me. I actually handled the taste of that and ate a lot of it. I couldn't even handle my beloved coffee and even water was hard to take. I had to take lots of sips of water . Once your bowels get moving your appetite comes back well mine did. I couldn't even [ TMI ] pass gas in the beginning and I think if your stomach is so full of gas and you can't go to the toilet and your bloated it's hard not to feel full.
My advice is to keep the fluids up and eat when you can, if you find something you can stomach then take that. If will get better. xx

Re: Feeling full but not eating

Alexander120 - finally got a bit of an appetite last night and again today (ate a banana, woohoo!). I guess it will be like Arabia described; a slowly but surely kind of thing.

Am passing gas OK but still not doin' much else in the bathroom - does anyone know when I/we all should start worrying about the lack of a BM (I'm 1 day short of a week, TVH)?

Re: Feeling full but not eating

Hi I wanted to post a follow up. I spoke wih my Doctor and she said I need to have bowl movements and release gas. Miralax has been helping, althought the cramping from this process has been horrible, the full feeling is gone. Hope that helps everyone that is feeling the same!!

I still have no real bm! 2 very small ones (sorry for tmi)! Glad you managed a bannana! I have family making me a dinner so will somehow have to try and squeeze some in. If you find anything out about bm let me know!
