blood loss

Does anyone know approximately how much blood is lost during a TAH/BSO? Just curious.I'm supposed to start blood banking next saturday- just 2 pints-just in case they happen to need it.Thanks!!!!

I think my doc said a pint or a little more.

Hi, It really depends on the person and the tech. of the Dr. In general the average Blood loss is 1/2 pint. I was unable to donate my own blood because I was so anemic. My Dr. was not concerned he said in his practice he has never had to give blood for a TAH due to surgical blood loss. But if you are able to give I would. Better save then sorry. My blood loss for my TAH was 200cc. I had my surgery 3/28 and after being on iron since 1 week pre op. Im doing great and feel great. You will be fine!!!!!!!!!Good luck. Take care.
