For the larger princesses.

I thought I would post this to help any of the larger princesses waiting to go to the castle. Pre surgery I was mostly concerned about my size than anything else. I am 275 lbs 5'4" and 51 years old. I had a LVH with a cyctocele repair and bladdersling on 4/28. I had no complications. I did have to have a cardiac stress test for surgery clearance which I passed with no problem. I spent 2 nights in the hospital. Had little pain, nothing the meds have not taken care of. I am currently taking darvocet 100 and motrin 600mg about 3x a day, I am 6 days post op. I have 4 small incisions in my very large belly. I have some bruising at these sites and no longer have any post op vaginal dischg. The hardest part was my mobility in bed. Getting rolled over and scooted up. The side rails were a blessing. To scoot up I would put the head of the bed flat reach up and grab the head board to pull myself up. This worked well for me. The hospital staff was wonderful to me and at no time did they make me feel embarrassed at my size Even the first day when they had to do some of my personal hygiene. , I am feeling good, up and doing light housework, walking around out in the yard. Went to lunch out yesterday. I do a little then sit a little. I take a hour long nap everyday.
The first 3 days home I needed a hand getting out of bed. Not alot of help but I could not get up alone. DH would extend a hand that I would pull on. Roll yourself onto your side toward the edge of the bed slowly drop your feet off the bed while pushing down on the bed with your elbow on your downward arm. The other hand needs to either push down on the bed or pull on something.
I can roll over in bed and lay on my side but put a small flat pillow between my belly and the bed for a little support. My belly doesn't pull on me that way.
Loose fitting, or stretch pants with elastic work fine. I could not find a inexpensive "gurdle" in my size 4x. I find I am OK without but find myself supporting my belly with both hands on the quick trips to the bathroom.
I have hand rails in the bathroom because of knee replacement surgery 1.5 years ago and Husband raised up my favorite lazyboy so I could rise out of it easier.
Look for my posts on the post op board to see how I have been progressing.
I know this was a long post but I hope it will relieve some anxieties. Everyone heals at their own rate, but I am more pleased with my recovery.
