new to here- 9 days post op questions

Hello, I was so excited to find this site. I experienced a prolapsed uterus during my last pregnancy about 2 and a half years ago. I'm 30 years old and just had a vaginal hysterectomy 9 days ago. My ovaries were left in tact, I had a monarch sling placed for the bladder and work done on my rectum wall, also some reconstruction of my pelvic floor. To say my abdomen feels like a whirlwind would be putting it mildly I actually feel pretty good. I quit taking the heavy pain killers 3 days after surgery and have been really pushing my supplements, water and rest. I do however have a few questions. My stitches, one in particular, are uncomfortable and feel like it is pulling in one spot. I have been told no baths for at least two weeks, maybe longer, but have been showering regularly. I'm wondering if its maybe my stitches dissolving, but there is an odor (not fishy) that no matter what hasn't gone away yet. Is that normal? I also have a pain in my lower right side whenever I get up and start to walk. Lastly, there are times during the day where I just feel shakey and I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced this? Sorry for the long post everything is new and scary and I just thought I'd ask for some feedback. Thank you.

Re: new to here- 9 days post op questions

Glad you found us! No need to apologize sister, this IS scary!

I would check in with the dr tomorrow and see if s/he thinks you should be seen? If you haven't please take your temperature just to check for infection. Although its only 9 days its possible that your internal sutures have started dissolving and for some that does have an odor. Mine didn't start dissolving until almost 3 wks and there was definitely an "odor" to it like old blood. Here is an article about it and maybe this can shed some light - Vaginal Odor. Keep us posted on what the dr says.
