What was I thinking?! What was I thinking?!

What was I thinking?!

Oh boy... am I crazy, or what?

My surgery is a week from Tuesday and I've been caught up in what I understand to be some very common pre-op behavior -

insomnia
nesting
listmaking
stressing about getting things done
stressing even more about "the big day"
etc.
etc.
etc.

So what are my husband and I doing tonight? Leaving for a few days to go on a vacation!

Yes, it seemed like a good idea when we planned it. Ya know, get away for a little trip "while we still can", before embarking on the recovery process (during which I plan to be a very, very good Princess <drink-rest-walk>, by the way!).

And it still seems like a good idea, but... this feels so crazy! I should be cleaning! Stocking up on more food! Doing more cooking/freezing! Hey, I need to dust the crevices of the light fixtures I'll be looking up at from my reclining position!

Okay, enough of my rant. This is, after all, a good thing... right? I'm going to go, have a good time, and try to keep my mind off of everything it wants to be on!

So, Princesses, how did you spend your "final week"?
And Ladies, what are your plans?

Uh oh, I'd better pack!!

What was I thinking?!

Hi There!

You and your DH go, and have a wonderful time!

Since I only *had* a week's notice for my surgery, it was all I could do to wrap things up at work, stock up on my convenience-convalescing foods, and clean clean clean! I was a wild woman!

Don't you worry - it's amazing how everything we *think* needs to be done before our castle trip turns out to be absolutely fine if it doesn't happen to get done.

Best wishes and Big HUGS,

What was I thinking?!

Well, I don't know, but a vacation sounds WONDERFUL to me!!

Stocking up a bit is good (I bought a bunch of Healthy frozen dinners to make life easier), but maybe others can do shopping afterward (actually, I have gone with my husband twice to the store - used one of those little electric carts...WHEE!! It was fun. I drove around, he walked with me and took the heavy stuff off the shelf.

Dirt and dust keeps. Yes, that's hard for some, but it really does! I had plans to do all sorts of cleaning the week before, but ended up with a strained shoulder and neck and a bunch of procedures and doctor visits about my thyroid, so it just didn't get done. And this too shall pass :-).

Have a great time, get some relaxation!!

What was I thinking?!

Go and enjoy your vacation. I just got back 10 days ago and am scheduled for Tuesday. It was the best! In fact it was the only time I didn't worry, think about it or get crazy! We had so much fun, happy hour every day, diving, Busch Gardens! Even played golf! Started bleeding again on the way home so it must have been Meant to be!
Have a blast and relax!!! Good luck

What was I thinking?!

Awww, Toonces, Alisa, Cynthia, and Tammy, thanks so much for your encouraging messages!

My DH and I did have a wonderful trip and I'm really glad we went. I'd be lying if I said my upcoming surgery was completely out of my mind... cuz it was certainly there a lot of the time! My surgery is scheduled for Tuesday evening (the 19th) and, this past Tuesday, while on our trip and enjoying a delicious dinner out, it suddenly dawned on me where I'll be and what will be going on that time a week later. Still, we had a great time and I know I was very lucky to have had the opportunity to get away like that before my surgery!

Thanks again for all of the support!

GoodLuck

Glad you got to get away, I'm sure it was relaxing. Sounds just like what I need! My surgery is the day after yours so we will be recuperating together! I wish the best of health, and I will be in prayer for you. Im having a TAH and possible BSO and also a bladder fix-it lol. My uterus is 3 x larger than normal and they are uncertain why. So I'll know more following surgery. Blessings in Christ and I'll be praying for you, Mikki Jo
