Pain while peeing
Hi. I had TAH 4 months ago. Uterus was huge and adhered to intestines and bladder as well. At the hospital, I was off the catheter the day after the surgery and all was well at my 6week check up. My problem is that I find it difficult to evacuate my bladder when it's very full and when I do manage, I hurt in the lower abdomen - where I picture the top of my bladder to be. Have complained to 2 docs but they both suggested urine cultures to check for bladder infection. Tests have all been clear and the pain continues. I have one ovary left and am not on any HRT. Did take Progestrone for 3 months post op. Does anyone else have a similar experience and/or advice? Would love to get some answers. Really frustrated.

Pain while peeing
Malliki,
Have you talked to an urologist? Years ago I saw a great urologist and he gave me pridum(spelled wrong sorry). The pridum numbs the urine and changes the urine to an orange color. Pridum is normally taken for three days. It does wonders.
I also had adhesions/endo that involed the the intestines and bladder. Email me if you need a better spelling. I can call my doctor and ask for the correct spelling.
Take care,

the correct spelling of the medicine is puridium. It is a great medicine. But if you get put on it make sure you wear a pantyliner because your pee does turn orange and it will stain your underwear. I hope you get well soon.

Pain while peeing
Hello,
What is puridium helpful for? Is it used for painful bladder spasms or infection?
I am 7 weeks post op and still have pain with urination, some pulling and pressure felling on and off. No UTI, was checked for infection twice. It's really been my major set back after TAH, this bladder problem... And I never had it before, just afraid to be stuck with this . Could it be adhesions? I had some removed during my hyst from my previous surgery.
Thanks, Angelena.

Pain while peeing
I am 5 weeks post-op and still having painful urination. Not every time but I never know so I'm always tensing up. I wonder if coffee drinking makes the pain worse? It seems to be worse in the morning with the first void of the day, and then through out the morning. I have been using the puridium for over a week now and it still hurts sometimes.

Pain while peeing
Thanks, WindyAnne, for the advice about pridum(?). I went to see my doc yesterday and he says the pain is just internal bruising from the surgery. it will fade in time. It's already been 4 months. I do hope it goes away soon.
anyway, my other question was about weight gain. I've put on 5kgs (around 11 pounds) in the last 2 months. I thought it might be hormonal, but he thinks it is basically lack of excercise and too much 'good food'! He's told me to get back to normal excercise routine immediately. But everyone else I meet, including friends who've had hysters before - they all say I must take it easy a while longer. Any views, anyone?
