loss of libido and hrt

after my surgery i,ve had problems with vaginal dryness and loss of libido. i have one ovay. i tried an estradiol patch, only 8 days and i couldnt handle the migraine headaches.it didnt seem to be helping any thing any way. i then tried premarin cream, within 2 wks i was just beginning to lubricate on my own and libido was slightly coming back.this really picked up my spirits BUT i was having really bad bone, joints, and muscle pain. wasnt sure if it was from the premarin cream or still side effects from the surgery. the last time i put the premarin cream i was awake part of the night with pains in my head. decided to stop the premarin cream,,makes a few weeks and i,ve seen a major differance in symptoms clearing up .but also libido and natural lubrication are completly gone also.this is so depressing to me,,me and my husband have only been married 2 yrs. he is being very understanding about all this but still i,m having a hard time dealing with the fact that my sexlife could be over.any body else go through this and how did you deal with it. i do have a drs. app next week. i would be willing to try something else but could i be allergic to estrogen? would appreciate hearing your views,,thanks

I would really encourage you not to give up. Sometimes a different type of estrogen will work. I've been using the Vivelle Dot, which is a bioidentical hormone. I have my ovaries, but I'm moving into menopause and they just need a little help. I find it makes a huge difference for me.
You might want to look through the list of symptoms for too much/too little estrogen, progesterone and testosterone . This might help you identify what you may be lacking and help with talking to your dr too.
If you haven't done much reading on hormone replacement I would suggest you look through the Hormone Article List for information. I found it helped a lot for me to have some idea of what I might want to try before I talked to my dr.

I hope you can find something that works for you. I don't think you have to give up your sex life. Balancing your hormones can take time and effort but if you hang in there I think you can find answers.

My Dr. put me on the lowest dose of Estratest. I had everything removed. I have found this helps with the dryness & the testosterone help with my libido! My regular M.D. said it will also boost my metabolism.
Maybe your dose of estrogen is too strong. I am not a Dr. , just letting you know my experience on the estratest, I've also lost 18 lbs since surgery
I hope you find what's right for you!
