Da Vinci Hyst. And A &p Repair
Hi there ladies! Well, I am sched. for surg. on Sept 18th and let me tell you...I am scared out of my mind! I'm 33 and have 3 children my youngest is 7 months! i also have a 3yr old and 16 yr old! I have 3rd degree pelvic floor prolapse (the works) so i know I must get this done. Especially because I have alot of pain and pressure. I would really love some input on how I am going to feel after surgery. I am so scared of the pain especially in such a tender place! My DH will be with me but I don't think he really understands the "baggage" that comes with this surgery. Help! Please
Thank You so much

Da Vinci Hyst. And A &p Repair
I did not have the A&P repair but I can tell you that the pain from the daVinci was minimal. Three days after surgery, I decided to see if I could handle it with ibuprofin, because the vicodin they gave me for home made me very constipated. I was happy to find out that the ibuprofin did the trick.
The pain from the constipation and from the gas associated with any abdominal surgery was worse than the pain from the surgery itself. I took the stool softener with laxative, prunes and prune juice but I found that drinking lots of water and walking around the house as much as I could were the best things for the constipation/gas pain.
My DH took off a week to be with me after surgery and I probably could have managed by myself after the third day, but I have no children at home. It was nice to have him there, though! Take good care of yourself, watch your lifting and don't worry about cleaning house or cooking!
It will take some time to get your stamina back. I did not feel like myself until 8 weeks after surgery, but I am 57 so probably take longer to heal. Don't expect too much of yourself. It takes anywhere from 6 months to 1 year to recover fully from this surgery, but in the end I bet you will be glad you did it because you will be in much better health.

Da Vinci Hyst. And A &p Repair
Hello,
I'm 11 days out from my Da Vinci where they ended up taking everything and even cleaning endometriosis off bowels and other organs. To tell the truth, I am shocked by how good I feel. I totally agree with Bookworm, the gas bubbles, BM's, etc. are much worse than other parts of recovery. First week is the toughest...from there it seems to be a VERY QUICK recovery. I'm not planning to go back to work full time till week 3 (teacher), but have already gone to the movies, grocery store, etc. I AM being very carefull about the lifting/pulling rules, because my Dr, warned me that Da Vinci ladies often feel so good so fast that they do too much or do the wrong thing and that can set you back or cause harm.
If things go well, I think you'll be quite please with the recovery that this method of surgery can provide. If you have any other questions, just ask...Da Vinci is still a bit new and I know that I wanted to know about LOTS of experiences with it when I was in the waiting stage.
Blessings
