Checking on the 6 1/2 weekers!

Just wanted to check on all the March 18, 2005 princesses. How are you doing? I am doing pretty good. Went back to work on May 2, 2005 and although I still get tired after about 2-3 hours and my back hurts a little after sitting a long time, I'm doing pretty good. It's really good to get back into the swing of things. How is everyone else doing? I would love to hear from you!

Checking on the 6 1/2 weekers!

Hi kmichelle! I had TAH 03/21/05, small submucosal fibroid on uterus, removed uterus and cervix, kept ovaries. I had my 6 week checkup today and was given the green light finally! It's been a long six weeks. I had an easy surgery and recovery, the only real battle I have now, is gas still from time to time. I went back to work at 4 weeks, after begging my doc, he only let me under very light duty. I am an administrative specialist so it wasn't so bad, but I am exhausted at bedtime every night still! My boyfriend had sex 3 times this week, before he gave me a green light, and I was afraid we might have damaged something, but doc said this morning I was lucky - no damage, all stitches gone, no sign of bacteria. Best thing that I ever had done!
Glad you are doing well also - anyone else out there ??

Checking on the 6 1/2 weekers!

My surgery was 3-16-05 just a few days before you. I can say I'm coming long just beautiful. Those first 3 weeks I didn't like at all. I guess I really have to say that the 6 week mark I felt really good!!!

I try to walk two miles everyday. Sometimes I don't get it in. I might get a mile in. Just depends upon if my husband, os son, needs me. I'm lifting lightweights. It also feels good!

I'm back working with the horses and seems I run everyday. I just don't run on Thursdays. Thursday has always been the day I clean my house. When I say run. I mean running around in the car!!! (LOL) Like going shopping..

Sounds as though most of us have regained most of our energy back. Yes by evening I'm tired. But I sure do sleep good now. I think the night sweats are all gone, and the cold chills too.

I'm just happy I did this. No periods for two months. I think this is great!!!!

Best of luck to each and everyone!

Checking on the 6 1/2 weekers!

Hi slights and Karole!
Glad to hear that the two of you are doing well. I guess it's true about all women being different because there was no way I could have gone back to work at 4 weeks - but good for you slights! I am an administrative assistant for a community development office but don't think I could have done it at 4 weeks.

I am back at work for only 1/2 days until 5-16-05 then if I felt like it I could go to full days. My doc said that my surgery was an easy one until he got in there and removed not one but two 5lb fibroids. He was surprised because we knew about the one in my uterus but didn't know about the 5lb one hiding under my liver. He said that in his 23 years of practice he has never seen anything like it. When he showed me the pictures my jaw dropped. He said that recovery would be a little slower because of the tedious work he had to do to remove the tumors before he rmoved everything else (except one ovary).

Karole you are amazing with all the activity you are able to do. I'll get there pretty soon. However, I can do the running (in the car) pretty good.

Glad to know that you are doing so well.

Checking on the 6 1/2 weekers!

Hi ladies,

Good to hear you're all doing well.

I've been lucky and had a great recovery - I have been pretty active throughout. I've ridden my bike and been tap dancing a few times now - and I went to an aqua-fit class at the gym today. it was so cool not stressing about leaks whilst swimming!

I don't go back to work til next wednesday - I'm a special needs teacher at a junior school. I wanted to be sure the the thought of being jossled about in the playground wasn't too distressing!

I still get tired at times - but it's a good tired - an 'I've done more than yesterday' type tired. Not like the pre-op anaemic feeling.

These past few weeks seem to have flown by!

Take care

Chicky

Checking on the 6 1/2 weekers!

I had a LAVH on 3/17/05 and it went really smooth. I went back to work full time after 3 weeks as an administrative assistant. I was very surprised how good things went for me considering the first two days after my surgery I had cardiac issues and a severe migraine. I started walking after 2 1/2 weeks and returned to full exericse at 4 weeks. I had my 6 week post op last Friday and he cleared me for everything except sex. He said to give it one more week. Everyone is truly different and hopefully you all will continue to heal quickly.

Checking on the 6 1/2 weekers!

KMichelle,

It's not that I'm amazing. I just can't stand to sit still. I am one who has to be doing something all the time. If I sit I get so bored. I hated the recovery time I had to sit and let everyone else do my work.

I know when I started flying up and down those steps doing laundry. I told my husband, I never wanted to be laid up again in my life. But who does?

You had alot of work done. it will all come back in due time. Just do what you feel like doing. If you can't do it then the work will be waiting for you.

Today I trimmed all of my hedges. Raked that mess up and just finished with dinner. Then back to the barn too play awhile with the horses, and then do my walk.

I have the evening free tonight. They all had meetings. It feels good to be alone sometimes.

Keep me posted on your recovery.

Checking on the 6 1/2 weekers!

I'm going back to work tomorrow! I've had a good recovery so far, and have been building up my activity level during the past few weeks with doctor's approval. Finally had my final post-op exam and got my clearance to return to work, so tomorrow's the big day. I'm very much looking forward to it; even have some new clothes to mark the occasion.

Best wishes to everyone out there who's recovering!

Checking on the 6 1/2 weekers!

I had a TAH at 3/16 and had a great recovery. MD cleared me at 4 weeks and I went back to work as a elementry teacher at 4/18. I'm now living a normal life with working, cooking, cleaning, and Curves. The first week of work was very difficult, but drastic improvement the second week and even better the third. Take care and God bless!

Good Luck!

Checking on the 6 1/2 weekers!

I had TAH/BSO on 3/22 so I am 6 weeks and two days post op today. I am feeling good. made my first big shopping trip yesterday - was fun but extremely exhausting. Today i took it easy to recover.

Don't get to see my Dr. until May 16 for final exam. Looking forward to getting the ok for everything.

Not sure If I am going back to work. I work as an independent contractor bookkeeper. I've realized these weeks at home that I am ready for a change. May take more college classes. MY DH is completely behind me. Maybe its that fact that I turn 40 in a couple of months. I really want to live my life, not just punch a clock. I guess its my mid-life crises...

All in all I had a great recovery and this site really helped me from beginning to end.

Love to all the Sisters.
