But once they took out the catheter, and the IV, I would have been more comfortable in some of my own old PJs...
I had a three-day stay and the IV and Foley (urinary) catheter weren't removed until a few hours before I was discharged. However, part of the reason for this was that I also had an epidural catheter for administering pain meds. That was removed first thing in the morning on the third day. The Foley catheter could be removed four hours after the epidural cath. Once that was out, the nurse said she'd might as well remove the IV too.

Upcoming hysterectomy - pyjamas or hospital gown?

I was expecting a 1-night stay but ended up with a 4-night stay once my LAVH turned into a vertical SAH due to lots of adhesions and a bowel repair in the process. I used the hospital gowns the entire time and honestly didn't miss my own pjs. What I did find necessary, though, was my own underwear. 😊

Good luck with your surgery!

Re: Upcoming hysterectomy - pyjamas or hospital gown?

Still operating on the theory of "laundry that someone else does is a good thing," I wore the hospital-issued mesh panties while I was there. Mind that I live alone. Any laundry that came home from the hospital with me was going to be sitting around for a few weeks until I could handle doing it.

I agree! Never heard this for a LAVH in the U.S (unless other medical conditions/complications)

Re: Upcoming hysterectomy - pyjamas or hospital gown?

I stayed overnight , and I just wore the hospital gown . The next afternoon after I took a shower & the Iv was out then I put on some clothes and walked the hospital. I was not rushed to go home or anything. They would not let me go until I could walk a while , and they gave me pain meds for the ride home ( 1 hour drive)
