Anyone else feeling TOOO good?

Had my post-op appt today with dr. I am only 11 days post-op from a TAH. I have to admit I am feeling way too good! Dr. didn't do a pelvic, said it was too soon, but she told me I could do anything I want (except for lifting heavy objects, mopping, sweeping and sex of course). She told me to take a little nap each day. She even told me that shopping at Walmart would be the best exercise I could get! So DH and I went Christmas shopping for 10 hours today to 10 stores! Swelly belly was a bit sore on the ride home, but I'm sure crawling in and out of the truck 420 times attributed to that. This was my first trip out of the house since surgery. So is anyone else feeling remarkably well? I'm shocked that I have so much energy and feel so good only 11 days out.

I'm very happy for you! A wee bit jealous, but happy! I'm one week out and still shuffle instead of walk, and still need percosets on top of the ibuprofen. I will say, though, that my "mind fog" seems to have passed, so mentally I'm feeling much more put together.

Anyone else feeling TOOO good?

Certainly at the 2 week mark I had days I felt way too good, did too much, then felt it for a few days afterwards. Week 3-4 was tougher because of the healing pains and doing too much. Be careful not to overdo on your good days. I felt good 3 days then bad 2 days and so on. Week 5 I was doing everything and felt 100% recovered. Week 9 I did too much and I'm in week 11 feeling very bad. Imagine feeling good for a month and them wham, knocked down again. It can happen so take it easy. It can be a roller coaster! Let us know how you are feeling the next day or so.

Evil Woman.
Just kidding! Good for you. Let us know how you feel tomorrow! So what do you attribute it to? Were you extraordinarily fit prior to surgery? Have you had great energy since post op day 1?
I feel too good, but find that I've been lethargic the last 3 days. I thought my body was shutting me down so it can heal. I took a Sudafed this a.m. and alot of energy. I cleaned the master bath like it hasnt' been cleaned since we built the house. Scrubbed shower, cleaned every bit of woodwork, the tiles, the granite....even vacuumed the blinds.
I'm post op 12 days and want to go to Costco tomorrow.
I'm 48 and am in better than average physical condition. You? What are you wearing to support your incision area?

I have been using a wide Velcro back support that I put on backwards and snug up tight. It supports my incision very well and I have little discomfort when wearing it. I talked to my surgeon today (Pathology report is "clear"!!!) and asked if restricting the internal organs' movement might cause adhesions, and we agreed that it's a good idea, but that I would remove it for 2 hours a day so my organs can move around naturally.

It's great to hear that someone is doing so well. Careful, though. You lose all your "poor me trump cards" when you behave like that! There's something to be said for "honey, would you peel me a grape, puh-leeze?!"

Anyone else feeling TOOO good?

Hi MsDee2,

I understand just what you mean as I was the same and I certainly had to keep myself in check at times. I was off all pain meds at 5 days post op and my doctor couldn't believe how well I was getting around 24hrs post op and even allowed me home early.

I cooked meals from the time I got home and folded the washing which my hubby did as well as ironing. I'm in no way advocating anyone do this but I was told little things as I felt. I paced myself and rested a lot but I have to say cabin fever drove me nuts. I actually felt the best I had in years and yes my body certainly had a way of pulling me up if I did anything I shouldn't have or overdid it.

Always follow doctors orders and listen to your body as this will give you the best chance of a speedy and uneventful recovery.

Take care........Karen

Cooking? Good Lord. You just did yourself out of 6 weeks of breakfast in bed!
I made a sauce that was trying to stick, and as I was vigorously stirring it, I pulled something inside. It hurt enough that I took a painpill and it hurt for the rest of the night.
But you have encouraged me to start doing more. I feel like it, but I read of the various setbacks here and I settle down into a chair. I cannot afford to have to heal twice. This is my slow season. And besides, I have a hot snorkle date waiting for me in February in Mexico!

Anyone else feeling TOOO good?

Ms Dee2,
I'm with you sister. I feel great! I had TLH on 11/29 and I ventured out for the first time last night. I've been sleeping all week and I needed some fresh air. My girlfriends at work were having a holiday get together so I showed up in jammies and slippers. Yes, my DH drove me there and picked me up. He couldn't believe I was going. I laughed until I was sore and I thought I would pay for it today, but I'm okay. Every day just gets better and better. Looking forward to going to the Post Office today to mail Christmas cards. Woo Hoo! Also, looking forward to my afternoon nap. I know my limits :-)

Anyone else feeling TOOO good?

I had a really good evening last night and this morning. Now I feel like I am pooping. The weather is beautiful here today and I am not feeling the best this afternoon. For those of you that have had a TVH when you have been on your feet too long does your bottom feel achy. I have laid back down now hoping the heaviness will is subside. Anyone else felt this way? I have taken my vicodin and motrin this am. It must be wearing off. Trying to spread pain meds apart for future need...
