DH worried to leave me alone

I am one week post op today - TVH. My DH has been home with me the entire time. Like a good DH he wanted to make sure I could get in and out of bed, to the bathroom, etc. without popping stitches or hurting myself.

Today is the first day I will be by myself, until he comes home at lunch time. I have told him I think I will be just fine getting in and out of bed, etc. I was correct in telling him this, right?

I had a lot of pain yesterday and the day before, but I am also not on any pain meds and allergic to ibuprofen. Please give any advice that will help him not to worry.

Re: DH worried to leave me alone

I had a TVH and live alone. Could you take tylenol? I took Aleve. I had zero help at home and truly did just fine. I think you should be fine, but I'd take some scheduled tylenol to get you more mobile. You have a good DH.

Re: DH worried to leave me alone

Enjoy!! Nice to have someone who cares! In my house it stopped after the first 2 weeks.
I am sure you will be fine though!

Re: DH worried to leave me alone

My DH was the same. He worked from home until I was able to drive. I was fine though and he could have left earlier. I was just taking Motrin as I had minimal pain and had no problems navigating around the house.

Re: DH worried to leave me alone

Thank you all. He was so sweet and worried. I figured that I would be okay. Now I can fully reassure him that I will be just fine at home. You all are wonderful!!!!

Re: DH worried to leave me alone

As long as he is a phone call away, you should be fine. Just be very gentle with yourself, no sudden moves, and you should be just fine.

Sounds like you have a keeper! ;-)

Re: DH worried to leave me alone

are you off pain meds because you choose to be or were you not gvivn enough ? If you need to call your dr and get something to take , I was on pain meds every day the first to weeks then eased of the 3rd and now in the 4th havent took any at all .. it always shocks me to hear of people off their meds so rearly .. i was in far to much pain to stop mine early ..but maybe thats just me .. as for getting to the bathroon as long as you dont have to climb stairs is should be ok .. good luck

Re: DH worried to leave me alone

the pain thing really is an individual thing, isn't it? I have noticed that too. Some are off in a couple of days, for me it was 2 full weeks, and then tapered off the 3rd week, but even in the 4th week there were some nights I needed them....

Now at almost 6 weeks, i am still needing advil, but nothing stronger...

Re: DH worried to leave me alone

I itch with the pain meds. I take only at night. Pain is not too bad though. I have no stairs to climb, and I am not making any sudden movements. He came home for lunch to check on me and is working from home again until his next meeting. He works about 10 minutes away, so not too far.

He is a keeper. Won't let me lift a finger. Our kids come home from vacation in a week, so I need to be rested and well as possible.

The only pain I really feel is now inside the vagina, it seems. But nothing alarming (but I think that is why he is worried to leave me).
