9 weeks post hysterectomy: I'm in such a bad mood -- anyone else?

Almost 9 weeks out from my LSH. Kept both ovaries and cervix. Sailed through recovery, zero complications. Sexual response seems to be fine, and moisture level "down there" seems to be fine as well. All in all, a textbook recovery!

I loved the 6 weeks I was home recovering. I'm divorced, 53, no kids, so I've never had maternity leave or any other type of leave. Other than a week here or there, I've worked since I was 15. Since I felt so great for the 6 weeks, it felt like a paid vacation. But because I was technically recuperating from surgery, I was pampered beyond belief by friends, family, and co-workers.

Been back at work for 2 weeks, and although I love my job, I've been pulled at from all directions since I've been back.

Today, I nearly snapped. About 10 times. I finally got myself home and drowned my irritability in chocolate.

It's 9:00 pm, and I'm still irritated and would be extremely *****y to anyone who I'd even talk to right now. I've turned my phone off, because I'd be so ugly to anyone who would call. I got some texts today from a friendship group, and I looked at the phone and made some mean comments. They were inviting me to lunch. What in the world did I have to be mean about? Thankfully I didn't type them.

Has this happened to anyone else? Is this hormonal?

I guess you're not alone. I been in the same bad mood maybe cause I'm still in the house. Feeling like the need to argue with or without any reason.

It is a full moon. Believe me, full moon can affect people in bad ways. So blame it on that. Otherwise it could be hormonal or you need to find a neutral third party to talk with to figure it out. I would say some of it might be as you said - you enjoyed the extra attention and pampering. Now you are suddenly be demanded to give not take. That is a big change and you are still healing inside.

9 weeks isn't a long time. It's possible that you are just tired. People don't realise that you are still healing, and expect you to be back at 100% your full levels. Practice saying NO to people in a way that is assertive, but polite and not offensive or aggressive. Let people know when you need to rest. It's better for your job for you to spend five minutes resting with your eyes closed, head on your desk than to spend five weeks recovering from a second trip to hospital.

I'm only about 3 weeks into recovery and honestly, I've wanted to pick fights with anyone and everyone. But, I also lost my ovaries in the process...so I just keep blaming it on that.

Re: 9 weeks post hysterectomy: I'm in such a bad mood -- anyone else?

It's just a general bad mood. I thought I'd get a good night's sleep and wake today a little happier, but sheesh, I want to kick some people. I'm normally happy & cheery.

I'm in outside sales, so I spend my days in my car, running from place to place. I love it. Since I've been back, I've been pulled on a lot, but it's ok, because everyone has been so nice and cool. This is all me.

I need to snap out of this somehow.

Yesterday, I went to Walgreen's, picked up a bunch of items, but they were out of stock in one thing I wanted. In a hissy fit, I threw them all on a random shelf and walked out. Took a deep breath, and drove to CVS. It was hot in there, and too dark to see the cosmetics clearly. But they had everything in stock. Walked to the front, where at least 6 people were in line with one slow cashier. Threw everything down and walked out. Which is so stupid, because now I still have to go and buy my stuff.
