Rear End Problems.. Advice?

I'm pre 4/23 for tvh. In January I was diagnosed as having IBS.. tho I think this was a lot of BS and a misdiagnosis of what is probably truley endo. Anyways... to make a long story short. A couple weeks ago, my movements began to be really hard (thanks percocet), so took stoll softener. Have been out of IBS meds for about 3 weeks. At first when I would have BM, there were tiny specks of blood on the tissue (not in the stool itself). Today when I had my movement, there was quite a lot of blood.. almost as much as it would be during a really light spotting time. I have no upset tummy or pains anywhere. Should I be concerned? Also, should I call doc ahead of time or just tell her at pre-op on 4/17? Will this delay the hyster? I don't wanna wait anymore! Thanks.

I'm sorry to hear

Your having so many problems. Please do not wait until your appt. to discuss your symptoms with your doctor.Call him & let him know a head of time.If there is even more blood...they need to know about it as soon as possible.Usually with IB syndrome there is pain & cramping.I was also told I had that..but had 4 laps to remove endo so far.I'm glad your not having those symptoms. I'm sending you a big Now call your doctor.I wish you the best of luck..Let us know how you make out !

Hi, Amy! If the blood is bright red, it probably is from right around the anus (hemmorrhoids?). If you have dark red or black stools, then the bleeding may be from higher up, from the intestine. You should call your dr office and let them know, and see if the dr should see you before the 17th. I suspect, however, that they will tell you to wait until then, and I don't think it would delay your surgery. Ask if your IBS meds should be renewed, and they can do that by phone for you. Hope you're feeling better soon.

Yes, the blood is bright red. Gonna watch it... I do think I have a roid.. feel throbbing here and there as well. But no pain. Will call doc if I see the blood like that again.

Hi Amy

Just an FYI they do make a stool softener with a lubricant. Might ease things a little more than just a plain stool softener. Wanted to pass this on in case you weren't aware of it.
And yes, please let the doc know right away, just in case.

I think it is Ducosat with Lubricant. I accidently got the one without. But a nurse friend told me that it is available with the lubricant.
Just ask your pharmacist for one. The brand name may different in your area. But any stool softener with a lubricant should be just fine.
