Strange feeling in breasts 1 year after hyster

I had my hysterectomy nearly 1 year ago to the day (2nd July).. both ovaries were left they just took the whole womb and cervix due to pregnancy complications.

I have this strange feeling in my breasts and have read a little bit about this sometimes happening post hyster.. it 'feels' the same as the sensation I would get when my milk was coming in during breastfeeding a baby.. I'm not breastfeeding and haven't for many many years.. I'm not leaking anything either.. but it's such a simiar feeling.. a sort of drawing out discomfort.. a little bit painful but I swear it's the same feeling as milk coming down.. what's that about? hormones??? I can't think?

Re: Strange feeling in breasts 1 year after hyster

sorry I should also add.. I'm not any any hormone drugs at all, I did have a baby 1 year ago (left over hormones???) and I do have a lump in one breast but had a mamogram recently and it's nothing but a lump so it's okay.

ps please don't remove my thread because it mentions the word 'baby'.. I would love an answer to this but don't want to upset anybody.. put some of us have nowhere to ask these questions other than hystersister so please be understanding of our situation as well.

Re: Strange feeling in breasts 1 year after hyster

hi cat, wish i had an answer for you. best i can say is keep talking to doc about it. is this a constant feeling, or does it slightly vary throughout the month? my guess is that if it's a feeling in both breasts, you are probably fine -- i'd be worried if one breast were going through something that the other breast wasn't! also, if there were any other symptoms, such as redness, itching/burning or rash, and so on. definitely get that kind of stuff checked out asap. it's good you are keeping a watch on that lump.

i had preoccupying breast tenderness for a couple weeks post-op, more so than when i'd get my monthly cycle, and similar to what you described. but now it's gone, and with all the right timing -- so it must have been my hormones at work. of course, i'm not very far post-op, so things could change. that is the hardest thing i've been learning throughout this recovery -- the unpredictability. i hope some other sisters chime-in with their experiences, especially being further along post-op as you are.

hope you find some reassurance and answers!
