Bladder Infection from the Catheter?

The day after I got home, as hard as it was to get up to use the restroom already, and as long as it took, to add insult to injury, I started peeing on myself all the way to the bathroom.

Of course, all the horrible scenarios I had signed off on pre-op were swimming merrily thru my memory.

Luckily my Doc was available to see immediately and pronounced it a bladder infection from the catheter after taking a urine sample.

I still couldn't rest easy until the antibiotics kicked in 2 days later. Phew!!!

Yes, I am paranoid.

Paranoid? I don't think so, that was a lot to go thru. I glad to hear that it was taken care of so quickly.

Hope you have speedy recovery!

Thank you for the psychological reinforcement, bauebee. I guess you aren't paranoid if it is true.

It all seems so demeaning somehow. My hubby is wonderful, but I even needed him to wipe my tush at first. Ugh!! It' s like an act of congress to get up and put a different DVD in the player.

I want to do things and I can't. I don't want to constantly ask someone else for what I want/need. My hubby happily goes out and buys the fruit I want but then I have to beg him to wash it. It's not that he doesn't understand I can't stand at the sink, he just doesn't like that job so he puts it off.

I shouldn't complain but I'm already tired of depending on others and i'm only 12 days into this.

Oh, I know where you are coming from. It's like talking to the wall! Okay, this is bad, I sound like my mother

I got so tired of the nagging to carry the laundry for me, vacuum, sweep the shedding dogs hair out of the house (that one really bugs me, I'm the only one that looks at it all day but they all start sneezing as soon as they walk in and it's my fault for not airing out the house ). I hired my sister's house cleaners to come over every other week to do my bathrooms and floors, then I hired a girl down the street to come over after school 3 times a week ~ she sweeps, vaccuums and hauls the laundry upstairs. I hated to spend the money to do it, but it was a lot easier than I thought, she's here maybe a half hour and I give her $5 bucks $15 bucks a week, I've saved that on gas alone and the little things are done Is there a teenager or even a pre-teen near you that can come over for a bit and take care of the those little things?

I know hubby is great, but they don't get the little things ~ it's a guy thing in there!

He'll get used to it, Phosphor, don't worry! It is frustrating not to be able to do things, I know. Yesterday I dusted the living room, what a mistake because I hurt like the Dickens for the rest of the day and evening. Be patient, you have all the time in the world to heal. Better to heal properly the first time than to take a chance and hurt yourself, right?

I'm glad your leakage was just an infection, the same thing happened to me! Scared the crap out of me, I've never leaked like that and didn't know a bad infection could do that to a person. Phew!! Take it wasy and you'll be tip top before ya know it!!
