Question for anyone keeping thier cervix

If you are keeping your cervix, is your doc going to cauterize it to prevent "min-periods". I may or may not be keeping mine, I guess it depends on how is looks once he is in there. I am going to ask him the morning of surgery to cauterize it though, if he decides to keep it.

Yes, I believe she cauterized it and she also said something about removing some of the glands in the cervix to make sure I didn't have mini-periods. It has been 4 months and absolutely no bleeding - hooray! Mariah

I concur, I've also heard that cauterizing the cervix helps to control/prevent mini-periods. I'm awaiting my appts to interview 3 urogyns for my surgeries. I'll be asking them the same question.

If we decide to go the route of LSH (which is what I want), we'll be discussing how to prevent mini-periods. What's the use of removing the uterus and still being left with bleeding.

Thanks for the reply. He said he is going to try and get as low as possible and get past the area that bleeds. (If he decides to keep it in there)
