For chipsy kate
I've been doing a lot of research on how what I eat affects my estrogen levels. When my levels get too high, I have a seizure, which is no fun at all.
Anyhow, as I read your posts I noticed your signature line about coffee.
You might find it interesting to go to the google search engine and type in the words caffeine and estrogen. I just did it, and the first hit that pops up describes how caffeine raises estrogen levels.
I know how attached people can get to their coffee, chocolate, etc. In fact, if we're honest about it, it does resemble an addiction.
As you look for ways to improve your health, I just wanted to let you know about this connection. It was hard at first for me to accept, but I've felt a lot better since I experimented with no coffee or chocolate or tea.

Good Luck everyone!
Mine is on Valentine's Day at 11:30AM. I am nervous but relieved that the decision is done, pre-op is done, and that I have put all my faith in the doctor who will have God to guide him every step of the way.
love love,
see you on the post-op board soon!

Hello to Fellow 2/17 Princesses
I am also scheduled for surgery on 2/17. I'm glad I checked out this thread because I don't feel so alone now. My first surgery is scheduled for 8:45 a.m., which will be removal of my gall bladder, hopefully laparascopically (?). Then, around 10:00 will be my TAH/BSO.
I've had so many of my questions answered at this site - questions I didn't even know I had until I saw them on here - and gotten a great many hints. I now have granny pants and sneakers I can just step into, etc.
Yes, I will be praying for you all and thinking of you as I go in on the 17th. Let me know how you all make out!

Coffee Addicts
I hadn't given much thought to any connection, but I can see where that might be a definite concern.
One of the things the liver mets has done for me is to break the majority of my caffiene addiction. I used to drink about 4-5 cups in a day at the office. I'm down to one cup in the morning, now, and I do pretty well on that. I don't have too much trouble if I go without... and my stomach won't allow much more than the one cup.

My goes out to all sisters who are having their surgeries this week! It's almost here and then we'll be onto happy healing!
Mine is scheduled for 3pm, but I need to check in at 1pm. All I ask from God is that He guides my obgyn's hand throughout the entire surgery.
s all around, be thinking of y'all this week.

17th also
I go on the 17th. Have to be at the hospital at 11:30 for a 1:30 surgery. Starting to get a little anxious. I will keep all of you 17ers in my thoughts and prayers.

Fibroid size
So I met with the surgeon yesterday and got to see this puppy on the ultrasound. it's 6cm x 4cm x 4cm and sitting outside the uterus on the right side. Flipping huge.
Due to this, I can't have a vaginal removal, as I was hoping. He's going to do a vertical cut, to make it easier to see what's going on around it, in case it looks suspicious (adenocarcinoma instead of fibroid). Jolly good fun.
The exam was *brutal.* I told my girlfriends "It's hard to close your eyes and pretend you're in Tahiti when the surgeon is in you up to his forearms! Oy!"
He told me to plan on 2-3 nights in the hospital, which is what I was figuring on (going home either Saturday or Sunday). I'm going to work from home for a couple of days at least, and then we'll see from there. I'm pretty resilient after procedures like this, and athletic. I'm no stranger to major surgical procedures, for certain.
