6-12 months for swelling????????

Thanks everyone! I guess I won't know how I'll be until after my surgery. Like so many of you said...it will all be worth it. Still, it's motivation to get as close to the weight I want to be so I'm not too self concious about it and so that maybe I can still wear those size 8's that I want to fit into.

I think I was the one that posted about how IT COULD take 6-12 months for the swelly belly to go down. My doctor answered that totally honestly, for me. Why not ask your doctor to see what he/she says? I'm at 10 weeks post-op and it's going down now...slolwy but fading with proper eating and exercise in moderation. I didn't mean to scare anyone, believe me, just was saying what my doctor told me!

What Kind of exercise do you do for the swelly belly. I am 14 weeks post op and still have swelly belly bad. I am a size 8, but that does not seem to matter. Any advise would be helpful.

Just to let you know, I NEVER got swelly belly. I was amazed to look down and see...flatness....with a hint of abs. SHOCKING.

Remember that the swelling has nothing to do with flab or lack of it. I don't think exercise will necessarily address this, as it's a function of your body's reaction to the surgery.

Gadget Girl..........it was you that posted that it would take 6-12 months for swelly belly to go away. It did not scare me, it just shocked me. I had no idea it could take that long. I am glad you posted that because now I will be prepared and I did know it was your doctor that said that, but I will definately ask my doctor about it. You just helped me add another question to my list and I am grateful for that because I want to know EVERYTHING!

I am one who didn't get swelly belly! And I thought for sure I would. I used to get wicked belly bloat before my periods..so I figured "swelly belly post hyst HERE I COME"!!
But, I am happy to report..I didn't happen. Maybe because my uterus was so huge and after it was removed..I felt flatter and slimmer. I don't know...very confusing.

I honestly was totally freaked out pre hyst regarding this swelly belly phenom...but I freaked out over nothing in my case. Maybe your situation will be similiar.
I didn't loose one pound either...( was hoping I would!)

I'm doing isometrics and yoga as well as good ole regular crunches and oblique crunches *where you twist to the opposite knee* I just started exercising and while I'm still in the same clothes that I wore before the surgery, I would like to get everything tightened up and lose some inches.
