New here and having major issues with the Vivelle Dot

Hi, thank you for reading. I had my ovaries removed 18 months ago. I had been using biest 50/50 .9 mg a day and have been doing pretty miserably. I switched to the Vivelle Dot hoping that a steady dose would improve the hot flashes, mood swings, fuzzy brain, interrupted sleep.....looks so depressing seeing it written out. My doctor prescribed .075 and it was waaaaaaaaay too strong. So I cut a third off, then halved it, then cut 2/3 off. The brain fog disappeared, so did the hot flashes but it was still so stimulating it was like speed. My chest hurt, I was jittery, its been awful! I just dont understand! It's such a low dose and it's soooooo stimulating, Im so hyper! Nauseated even. Has anyone else had this happen?

Re: New here and having major issues with the Vivelle Dot

I have not had any problems with Vivelle Dot, however everyone is different. I suggest you call your Dr and ask them for a lower dosage of the patch or another brand all together and explain to them the symptoms you are having. By cutting it there is no sure way of knowing what you are getting. So it's probably best to start at the lowest dosage possible and go from there.

Some people have a really hard time trying to find the right balance, the right hormone and right dosage so if the Vivelle dot doesn't work for you don't get discouraged, there are several others you can try.

Good luck,
Tracy

I would suggest.the same go low and go.slow. And let it adjust it takes a few weeks for it to adjust, I add estrogel to my patch.and.when I put it on I get a boost of energy, then it goes away, lol.

Re: New here and having major issues with the Vivelle Dot

You can feel jittery and your chest can hurt when your estradiol level is too low. Sometimes adjusting to a new dose can start a new cycle of symptoms. Has your Dr. thought that possibly you may not absorb well through the skin? Maybe trying another delivery method?? Has he checked your estradiol levels just to see where you're at?
