Pain with intimacy after hysterectomy
This is nice to have a place to come and share feelings with other women that have had hysterectomies. I had a total hysterectomy on April 25. My husband and I have only been intimate 3 times since the surgery, he has been extremely patient, supportive and understanding but, I find it painful. My dr did explain that it maybe a bit difficult in the beginning but I can't imagine this is what it will be like for awhile.

Re: Pain with intimacy
Sorry to hear this. Are you two using lubrication? Even if you don't think you need it, it could help because your tissues are still kind of delicate in there. While I don't have a cuff, it's my understanding that sometimes, it takes some time to get that "tightness" of the cuff loosened up a bit, too.

Re: Pain with intimacy
Yes definitely...tons matter of fact! The real issue is my dr actually sewed the opening a little too much that I have torn the opening slightly and it was painful to sit. I have mentioned to the PA and she has give me estrogen cream to help and had said to insert .5 gm of it 2x a week and to use around the opening the rest of the week. My husband has been quite the trooper in helping apply on the days its on the outside. Its been almost 2 months since and it hasn't gotten any better. My husband has mentioned that the opening is about half of what it was before the surgery. I feel that tissue tug when I am doing anything that would require me to have my legs far apart such as squating to pick something up or getting in my jeep. The first time my husband and I were intimate is how it tore just from entering. We have only been intimate a total of 3 times since my post-op appt even then we waited a few weeks because I was still pretty sore and swollen.

Pain with intimacy after hysterectomy
I had my total abdominal hyst just 3 days before you. My doc cleared us at 8 weeks but only halfway penitration. So you might try that for awhile. We also use coconut oil. Its natural and has many anti fungal and anti bacterial properties to it. Also it doesnt dry out so quickly. Im sorry its been painful for you. My hubby too had been so careful with me. So far our intimate life has been good. But I am on estradiol 1mg and I do feel that is really helping my libido. It was cold before. But now I actually find its improved much. There can be a number of reasons iv read for painful sex. Theres also dialaters in the hyster store that can help with that. Iv also read on vaginal atrophy. You might check that out. My incision is in the itching phase now so thats what im dealing with! So iritating! Best wishes to you and your continued recovery. It will get better! From a Tx hyst sis

Re: Pain with intimacy
I hope that things will be better once all the kinks get worked out. Does anyone else take testostrone injections to help with your horomone issue?
