"Iron belt on the tommy

Had an abdominal hysterectomi last Monday, found two huge fibroids. One was the uterus stuffed with tumours and the other, just as large, attached to the pelvic floor and bowel. Since two days ago, it feels like I have an "iron belt" on my tommy. Anyone experienced that? It hurts quite a lot. I wake up with fever every morning.

Trying to get hold of my doctor.

Hi Cecelia
I'm sorry you're hurting like this. I didn't have this but it doesn't sound right. Keep trying to get ahold of your dr. The pain along with the fever could be a sign of infection. You should be able to control your pain by limiting what you do and taking your pain medication.
Are you resting and taking it easy? Just wanting to make sure you're not doing too much. Please let us know what you find out.
's, Rita

Infection not related to the hysterectomi

The fever is caused by an infection that we couldn't find related to the hysterectomi, thanks good. Progress ok. My MD had an idea that the fever could have been caused by "a blood gathering"/infection in the abdominal area due to the surgery, however, that was not the case. The pain is result that the pain killers pills don't have an effect on me.. (!!!) So we exchanged them. And I got a broad spectra of antibiotica to take away the fever.

The "iron belt" feeling has to do with the way the med team handled the abdominal muscles. It will go away in a few days time.

I feel great relief
