New, sudden abdominal pain 6 weeks post hysterectomy
I'm new on here , had surgery 2/24, 6 weeks tomorrow. I started having new and sudden abdominal pain, upper and lower 3 days ago after a long 8 hr funeral. The pain is mostly upper abdomen, it feels like a burning, aching sensation. Not comfortable at all. I thought with rest it would go away, but it hasn't left.
I love my doctor, but his nurse that takes calls is rude and condescending, I don't want to talk with her again. Last week I called her after the Drs suggestion to call if I felt I needed more time off. She told me no, it was too much paperwork for FMLA, which I'm not even using FMLA. I have two more weeks due to a neck fusion done prior to the hysterectomy.
I'm concerned because I a very physical, strenuous job. In one shift, we can walk anywhere from 8-12 miles and push and lift heavy equipment. Actually, the job wrecked my neck, thus that surgery.
I'm running on and on for finally asking a question?
Is this normal? Has anyone aslom experienced this abdominal pain?
Thanks!

Re: New, sudden abdominal pain 6 weeks post op
Your internal stitches should be dissolved by now but it might be the last ones dissolving (weeks 3-6, they dissolve and you can have sharp pains)
It could be acid reflux or something with your gallbladder.
I would try to get checked out to rule anything out.
The burning sensation you describe does sound like acid reflux or gallbladder attack. Also could be a stomach virus.
So definitely get checked out for those things even just to rule them out.
Hopefully you can get a second opinion since it sounds like your doctor isn't listening to you.
Take great care

Re: New, sudden abdominal pain 6 weeks post op
Thank you Steff33,
The getting checked out part is a good idea, just one that I'm afraid of, considering the last few months. I went to the gyne to get checked out and ended up with a total hysterectomy soon after my neck surgery. Lol
I appreciate your help!

Your welcome
Totally understand but its better to get checked out then not and have a serious problem get worse.
Since if its acid reflux, you just get some prescription to heal the stomach for a bit and then its all good, just be weary of spicy foods.
If its a gallbladder attack, if its in mild stages, you could get away with having a prescription to stimulate bile flow to heal heal it and not have to have surgery but if you leave it too long, surgery might be the only option.
Always good to get anything caught early to try and avoid any more surgery.
It could be just tissues taking a long time to heal.
But better to get checked now for peace of mind, at least
Take great care

Jacquey---- that sounds like acid reflux.
Very easily treated. Make sure to get checked out by the gastro doc to rule out anything else.
But very easily treated.....i have had acid reflux for 15 years.....
Easy to live with.
Take great care and keep posting on your progress
