I have a silly question. Can you still have yeast infections after having a hysterectomy?

Yes, in fact I got one about three months after the hyst. Yeast infections are still a part of the deal.

yeast infections

Darn. I have had a yeast infection for about a week now and I don't think it's getting any better. I have been using over the counter cream, but no luck. If I go to the dr, he will prescribe some cream which costs $21 and I can't afford that. But I can't take the itchiness anymore.

Hi (((Jenny))) here is a link to an article on yeast infections that you might find helpful:

yeast infection?

Unfortunately, you can get yeast infections after a hyst; in fact, they are a very common complaint among recent post ops, partly due to low levels of vaginal estrogen and partly due to the antibiotics that many of us have to take post op. The article has some good hints on ways to reduce your chances of having to deal with yeast infections as well as different treatments that can help.

I hope this helps!

Hey Jensloan, why don't you try calling your Dr.'s office and ask them if they have any samples you can try. They usually have tons and are happy to give them if you only ask.

Blessings,

post op yeast infections

I had a vaginal hysterectomy 3 weeks ago with rectocele repair. I'm still having alot pain trying to sit, my doc says it still from the incision. However, I didn't even think to ask him if I had a yeast infection, I assumed I couldn't get them anymore. DUH! Anyway, that's exactly what it feels like, a really bad infection! I'm having quite a bit of discharge from the sutures dissolving so that's not an accurate indication, but I feel really "raw" and some burning.

Thanks for helping me "figure" this out. I'm calling my doc tomorrow for a prescription for Diflucan.

I'm really, really glad I found this website.
