post op details please -surgery in 3 days

I've been reading post op info.- can someone elaborate on what to expect like: gas, bloating, any bleeding, cramps, did you go home same day - was it unexpected c-section? What meds were you given for home? looks like most could drive after 1 - 1.5 weeks. My dr has not really told me anything. How long in recovery until you leave- I am told same day surgery but not sure when to expect going home. its 9am surgery. Thanks all!!

Hey Beachbum,

I had my LSH On 10/16.
When I came out I was pretty swollen. There wasn't any extreme pain for me. I was up in a room before you know it. Cath was taken out. I had all IV's in for about a hour. The nurse actually gave me the option of Morphine or Motrin 600 mg. I took the Motrin, but I needed the Morphine. The nurse came back within the hour and told me that I needed to get out of bed and use the bathroom so that they can see how much I was voiding. I got up and after a few wobbly steps walked the corridor twice. At about midnight the doctor on call came to tell me he wrote my d/c orders. He gave me Percocet and to tell you truth I have taken it twice since Wednesday, the trip home and yesterday I had a strange "pain" in pelvis area I took the pill and laid down only to pass gas. I read on this site today about the pressure when having to pee or move my bowels.
All in All a not so bad experience. I was SO afraid going in to have the surgery. So far everything has been pretty ok.
My follow up is 10/31. I understand I can be released for work after 2-3 weeks with no complications.

Wishing you all the best...

Re: post op details please -surgery in 3 days

Same here I am scheduled for my 2 week follow up on 10/31/2012. I agree this surgery was less invasive I had 4 c- sections and the recovery is no comprising. However for such a major surgery I was afraid and worried but I am happy I went though with the TLH... I am just king it day by day not taking the light pain for granted knowing most of the healing is internal..

Happy Healing Sisters
