2 days post hysterectomy: Right side hurts worse?

My LAVH was Tuesday on the 15th. I am doing pretty well. My surgery ended up being 5 hours instead of 2 because I had lots and lots of scar tissue. They confirmed adenomyosis and my bladder was adhered to the uterus. My bladder already feels better and my chronic lower back pain I have had for years is gone already!!! Yay!

My left side feels completely normal, but my right side hurts quite a bit. Is it normal for one side to be more sore than the other? I am taking motrin and still taking percocet mainly because of the pain on my right side (of my abdomen..near the incision, but the pain is from inside). Thanks!!

It is totally normal to have one side be more sore than the other. In fact, my doctor told me this would happen because one of my incisions was bigger than the other. In my case the left side hurt more, but now 3 1/2 weeks out, neither side is sore anymore and I can sleep comfortably on either side without being propped up by pillows. Yay!

I had issues with my right side as well. Especially when breathing in deep while lying in bed at night. It is pretty much gone now.

I asked my doctor about this at my post op appt this week. Normal!! They used a bigger tool on that side and did more "rooting" around on that side, even though I have one less incision there and its the same size as the ones on my left.

My right side hurts more than anything else too. I had my ovaries removed via davinchi and I must say even though I had mine done on the 8th of March I feel really good most of the time. After walking around or driving I feel the pain (burning, pulling ache) Doc says its normal. They scrapped and cut scar tissue and found endometriosis. Also pain due to deep tissue sutures.

I had more pain on my right side too but I blamed it on the hernia that was repaired after the uterus was out. Sounds like there's more than a few of us that had the right side pain issue
