9 weeks post op... mastitis!??!?! related?

Here I am, 9 weeks post op, feeling much better, exercising and all.... I just found out I got mastitis! I also had a suspected bladder infection and my surgery area "hurt" inside. So I have been on antibiotics for 5 days but still hurts bad (5 more days of meds). So... I have an ultra sound tomorrow morning! I sure wonder if it is related to something from surgery, like a traveling infection or hormones or something. Anyone get this or sound familiar? I mean, it is weird, but I just kinda wonder if it is an infected related to surgery this late in the game.

Dont worry, I am under the care of a Dr. with this, so he is on top of it. But if anyone else can relate, let me know.

HannahRuth,

From what I have read, mastitis is very rare in non lactating women. But, it isnt unheard of. I guess anything is possible after a hyter! Our bodies are going through so much at one time.

Personally, I had mastitis while lactating. Once I got on the meds, it took a few days for the PAIN to go away. It hurt sooooooooooooooo bad. I am so sorry you are having to go through this! I would fill up ziploc's with ice, lay a thin wash cloth across my chest, and put the bags of ice on top of my breasts. That seemed like the only thing I could do to ease the pain.

I hope you get some relief soon.

I know, that is what is weird. Never lactated ever. So who knows. The only thing that does make sense to this non medical person here... is that the only thing "different" than "normal" is that maybe my hormones are confused. I still have my ovaries, but who knows.
