Pelvic floor achy

Hi,

About 4 weeks post op I started getting this achy pain feeling in my pelvic floor and the rectum. I've been reading about doing Kegel to strengthen the muscles of the pelvic floor. When I do them, I get a more achy. Has anyone been doing Kegel and getting more achy after it? How long does it take to heal from this? Laying on my side gives me a little relief. When I sit in a reclining position, I really start to ache. I've seen my doc so many times I don't want to call, but I will probably do so tomorrow.

Thanks!

Re: Pelvic floor achy

I am not sure of this answer but thought I would bump your post up so hopefully someone else sees it and can answer it correctly! I am 2 weeks post op and have achy pelvic floor too. I had it before surgery. My issial tuberosities (sp?) (pelvic/butt bones you sit on) hurt too. Not sure why? Hope it helps!!!

Re: Pelvic floor achy

Thanks so much for bumping me up. I do that for people too! Your pelvic floor hurt before surgery. Do you know why? Did you ever do the Kegel exercises? Sorry to be gross, but my rectum is sore too. I don't have any issues with my butt bones, but was that after the surgery too? My pelvic floor is so achy that it's distracting. I'm positive that we will heal, but it takes time. This time I really want time to fly!

Re: Pelvic floor achy

Hi Ladies - I am almost 8 weeks post-op and I still get achy. I find this especially when I am very active and on my feet a lot - gravity perhaps? I know my dr said part of the reason I was sore was b/t the weighted speculum that was used during surgery along with tissue bruising.

I am doing my Kegels several times a day - when ever I think about it.

I'm 8 weeks also and still get achy. Especially after lots of sitting or standing.

Re: Pelvic floor achy

I had my surgery April 5th, started my kegels yesterday, did more today, they didn't seem to make anything worse. Had a LAVH. Wish we could find out if it helps or not. I figured it may speed recovery by getting the blood flowing that direction better. lol

Re: Pelvic floor achy

I was just going to ask this question today. After probably too much walking and sitting yesterday, I'm particularly achy today. I thought something was dreadfully wrong with me. I guess I need to take it more easy.

Re: Pelvic floor achy

Hi Cookies n Cream,

My pelvic floor feels so much better. I don't even notice an ache anymore. It's pretty much gone. Above RTJ mentioned her tail bone was hurting too. A few days after I read her post, my tail bone was hurting. It still bother's me a little, but not really bad. I just keep in mind that I'm still healing.

Take care!
