Urine leakage - a side effect of a hyst?

I am 6 1/2 weeks post-op and having problems with urine leakage. Its not alot but driving me crazy. Dr thought it was a bladder infection but have been taking the meds for three days and am still the same. Only have 2 more days of meds. I feel like I have to go to the bathroom constantly. Every hour or so - and this is nuts as I never had a problem before the surgery. My dr said that if the meds for bladder infection didn't work then I should use meds for incontinence. Could this be the problem? Can anyone relate?

Urine leakage - a side effect of a hyst?

I'm having a little trouble with my bladder also. I had was diagnosed with a bladder infection due to the catheter when I was in the hospital. I was on antibiotics for 10 days and the burning and irritation got better.

I'm not really having leakage issues. Mine is more like bladder sensation. I wasn't really feeling like I needed to go, just a heaviness. I would go and it never really seemed like my bladder was emptying. I would go back a few minutes later and there was more.

My dr. said sometimes after a hysterectomy your bladder has to be retrained. He told me to just start going every two hours whether I needed to or not and my bladder would finally get back to normal function. Each day I'm getting a little better and get more sensation back.

I'm not sure if this helps...you need to discuss this with your Dr.

me too

I did not have any problems right after surgery with my bladder other than a little twinge of pain after peeing. But now that I am 7 weeks post op I was having a little bit of dribbling after going to the bathroom. I would empty my bladder at work, walk to my desk and when I sat down, a little dribble would squease out. I had a urine test done on friday to check for a bladder infection and will find out the results tomorrow. I really don't think I have an infection though. I think that it must be hormonal. NOw that I am 7 weeks out and my estrogen level is low (just started estradiol) it must be affecting the bladder. I am hoping the estradiol will help and also doing kegel excercises for 5 min every morn and night. I will keep you posted as to my progress
