low grade fevers after hysterectomy

I have also been getting low grade fevers starting at 5 pm and on til 11pm, i was nervous, it was consistent between. 100.2-100.4 then around 930 spiked to 100.9, (i took all the necessary actions, fluids, ibs, warm shower, washcloth on head ) finally when it reached 101.2 i called my Dr before running to Er, which its good i did....he explained to me this is quite normal and to go between ib and tyl like i do for my kids with fevers, he said if there's other potential signs such as, extreme pain, insicions look bad, puss from vag, lots of bleeding, or a high fever for over a 24 hr time then go to ER, he made me feel more calm and im glad i called cause first thing that comes to my mind is omg infection,...hope this helps a lot of you. God bless ! This is a time we need to communicate having a hysterectomy is no joke and to me very scary!

Re: low grade fevers after hysterectomy

The low grade fever thing *is* really typical. My first night home - my fourth night after surgery - I woke up in the middle of the night sweaty and chilled. My first thought was to reach for my call button before I remembered I wasn't in the hosptial anymore! I was still trying to get up the energy to change my unpleasantly damp nightshirt when I fell back asleep.

The next morning I remembered that while I was in the hospital, when the nurses took my temperature at night they always made distressed noises and gave me Tylenol. Apparently I'd been running a low grade fever every night. So the next few nights I took a Tylenol before going to bed, and that fixed it.

Re: low grade fevers after hysterectomy

I am 2 weeks post op and also have had low grade fevers on and off. The most it's been is 100, but its always at night so its possible they've been higher since I haven't gotten up and taken my temp in the middle of the night at all. I have both ovaries but have still had chills and night sweats during the night.
