Bladder issues after

Hey there, I'm new to the page and I'm sure I'm asking a question that's already been asked. I'm 7 days post op and still have no feeling when my bladder is full or empty. I was told it would take a week but there have been no changes. My bowels are also really sluggish and taking senokot but unsure how long I will have to take there. Thanks so much for taking the time and have a merry Christmas.

Re: Bladder issues after

What type of hyster did you have? It is not uncommon to have bladder and bowel problems after surgery. The bowels being sluggish is very common. It takes a while for them to wake up. Just keep being aware of that and take steps to prevent constipation. As for the bladder, if you are able to go on your own I would just routinely do so at intervals you think are appropriate. I had to self cath for three weeks. My bladder was completely adhered to my uterus. Not fun at all! Put a call in to your doc after a few more days if it still concerns you. That's what they are there for.

Re: Bladder issues after

Definitely let your doctor know. I had my TAH on the same day as you but ended up with some scary complications. Call and let them know so they can tell you either to stop worrying or to come in. hope you feel better soon!!
