Opened bowels and now don't feel good

Had TAH and BSO last Friday. Finally opened bowels Thursday eve (not completely emptied). I have woken up at three am feeling really out of sorts. Passing gas but just feel very ropey. Up until now had felt really well(although in a lot of abdominal and pelvic pain).
Also I feel quite numb in my back from midway up to just below buttocks. Had to spend over 24 hrs with spinal and further 24 confined to bed with pressure boots on so unable to
Move. Have been mobile since Monday and feeling back but still numb in bottom particularly on right hand side.
Any advice please? Have just emptied bowel a little more and taking lactilose. Painful passing stool especially as trying not to push.

Stool softeners, two in a.m., two in p.m.
And you won't strain at all.

Drink alot of water.

Re: Opened bowels and now don't feel good

There's a drink in the US at least called PlumSmart. It has as much fiber as prune juice and tastes 3000% better. It comes in regular and diet and the diet has sucralose which is also a laxative. Here it is with prune juice.

I am for whatever reason just having constipation now at 3-4 weeks. I feel so bad for you and everyone that have it early; it was bad enough this far out.

Drinking hot water after you eat triggers a reflex. Coffee adds to that because of the laxative effect of it. I don't think tea matters, but I do remember my elderly patients telling me hot water and nothing else. I have not tried this but many of my patients used the trick. My niece's ped. put her on chamomile tea for constipation. She's also used pear juice.

Oh, and apples, dried apricots, dried prunes if you can eat them. I barely gagged 1 down last week. Canned spinach is high in fiber (more than fresh or frozen because you get more spinach per serving).
