So glad to see someone else who is excited. I have 2 weeks until the day and I'm mostly anxious about having the house ready.

Re: Any tips on surviving the weeks leading up to the surgery?
I'm a week and 13 hours from going to the castle. I think I'm more excited about taking 6 weeks off work than I am about the surgery. I had about 9 weeks to wait and tried not to count down too much so the time didn't pass too slow. Like everyone I have concerns how things will be afterwards. The house isn't quite done but this week was a horrid work week 6-12 hour shifts out of 7 days. Today is the last. I then have 2 more shifts in the next week and I'm done. The hardest thing so far is quitting smoking. Good luck and the waiting wondering and what ifs are no fun but I hear worth it.

Re: Any tips on surviving the weeks leading up to the surgery?
The best thing I did was work right up till my surgery date. I work as a toddler teacher and all my co workers knew my situation. As hard as it was for me to be at work the day before my surgery I was better off mentally at work then home. Not sure if you work or not. At home I did more cooking then cleaning pre op. I got 2 snack trays by my bedside ready with things I would want afterwards. I made a list of people my husband needed to text the day of surgery to update, I had a list of questions for him to ask dr after surgery. I also rested when I could since I was still working. I know it's hard to focus on other things now. I felt like it was all I could think about. The waiting is the hardest part. I'm 5 days post op and feel very positive (and tired) about my surgery. You'll get there!!!!!!

Re: Any tips on surviving the weeks leading up to the surgery?
I feel it is perfectly normal to be nervous. I am having the same feelings and I cry over the littlest things. I also am having even more trouble sleeping which is a problem with my pain anyway. Just try to keep busy. I have been cleaning my house and have done some shopping in order to have somethings I will need while off. My surgery in 11/19/12 so I have a few weeks. Hope all goes well and just try to let your husband know how your feeling at least that is what I am doing.

Re: Any tips on surviving the weeks leading up to the surgery?
Hello Ginag5! My surgery is also scheduled for Nov. 8. I am also extremely nervous about having this surgery. My first surgery was scheduled for Sept. 27, but was pushed back due to having so many fibroids they could not count them. My doctor gave me the Lupron Depot shot to help shrink them. I know that I need to have this surgery, because of all of the complications that I am having. On Sept. 11 had to be catherized for 4 days due to not being able to urinate for 14 hours. Started my period the next day and have had it since then. I am really tired of having to buy pads. That is one thing I am looking forward to not having to buy.
I have had many surgeries, nothing like this, but it is normal to be nervous and anxious about it. It is hard not to think about the entire procedure. Hang in there and you will be just fine.
