Any words of advice?

I am scheduled for a TAH/BSO with Burch on 1-7-04 and wondered if anyone has any advice for dieting before or after surgery. I've gained about 35 pounds in 5 months. I would even be happy to be down to 170, but 150 would be fantastic and beyond would be a dream. I really feel that after the surgery I will be mentally and physically ready to achieve this. I want to "unveil" a new me to the world. Any words of advice are welcome and appreciated. Thank you all - you inspire me!

From what I've read in another post, you shouldn't change your diet before surgery so that your motabalism can stay where it's used to being at. IMO, I'd eat a healthy balanced diet right afterwards for effective healing strength. I'm sure that once you're recovered, you can start dieting and exercising slowly, but I'd check with the doc to make sure I'm ready. Wishing you the best of luck!

Any words of advice?

Hi,

My advise is to call and ask your dr for recommendations. I know that you'd like to lose a few of those extra pounds ( ever notice how much easier it is to gain 'em ) but you need to stay as healthy as posible for your surgery. You'll have your whole life to lose them afterwards , so take your time and do it sensibly.

A few years ago, I decided to get back into shape myself. I joined a gym, had a physical at my drs and started dieting. It took me 10 months but I lost 75 pounds! I've kept it off for about 15 years now , but I did have to change my eating habits. Now what I eat is normal for me and I can't imagine any other way. Yes, I do have treats sometimes.

Would you please add your date to your profile so that you'll be in the best wishes list for that day?
