7 wks post-op and overactive bladder

Hi Ladies

Help!!
When I had my LAVH-BSO 7 weeks ago, I didn't have any need for bladder repairs - as all was good in the land of urine.
I did have frets before the surgery and asked my dr if removing my cervix would weaken my pelvic floor and cause me incontinence. He said no.

I am now having troubles with my bladder - it's a bit overactive. I'm racing to the bathroom every 1/2 hr - 1 hr. And sometimes when I'm up and about, I get a spasm that feels like I'm going to pee right there!!
I'm quite sad and stressed about this... did I give up heavy bleeding once/month for peeing myself every day??? Awww...fighting back tears here!

I'll add that I'm not on (systemic) estrogen, but I am taking vagifem for vaginal atrophy and my dr says it will strengthen the bladder too...
no luck yet...after being on it a week.

Thanks for any wisdom or help.

7 wks post-op and overactive bladder

Hi Shoozie,
try not to panic ... it isn't unusual for the bladder to be a bit "out of sorts" after surgery. Monitor what is going on, let the dr know, if things don't improve you can ask the dr about having urodynamic testing ... but I do know that a lot of women have some little problems for up to 3 months post.op.
I still felt some pains and spasms 6-8 weeks post.op
I think 1 week is not enough time for the vagifem to make a difference, but you might want to double check with the ladies in the hormone jungle forum about that.

I hope things settle down soon!

Thanks CAS29

I checked with my dr and he told me to stay on the vagifem every night for one MONTH! Hmmm...I'll do it if it stops this urgency issue!!

I'm feeling great otherwise, sleeping well, more energy, fewer headaches..(no HRT yet).. but I get so fretty over these other issues cropping up.

For the past 3 mornings - I've had blood w/my bowel movements...
I could cry! What is this now??? I eat a lot of fiber and have no problem with the BMs...
Are we still talking about dryness down in that region?? Hemorrhoids??
