Upcoming hysterectomy 9/22

I am currently pre-op (9/22/15) and enlarged to 7 months preggo size. It just gets bigger every day. I have the post-ablation syndrome so any fluid normally expelled just stays in there.

I'm very much looking forward to the surgery and getting my life back afterward. I'm so bloated, definitely have indigestion after eating, and my giant uterus is wreaking havoc with my bladder too. I'm trying to be realistic about the surgery and not rush anything.

Just want to thank everyone for sharing your experiences. It really does help and I'm grateful to have such a wealth of real-talk information.

Re: Upcoming hysterectomy 9/22

Hello and welcome I remember when I got my surgery date I was thrilled. If you haven't done so already make a few lists. I did up a few meals for my freezer, bought some extra groceries and picked out some comfy clothes. I was going into surgery with a strong possibility of conversion I planned for that in mind.

For me my surgery, recovery and beyond has been very positive. My uterus was ruling my life and it had to go. Follow your recovery restrictions and take time to heal. I wish you all the best for a new healthy beginning.

Hi Pink_Tiara to HysterSisters!

I am so glad you found this site, and that you are looking forward to the surgery and getting your life back.

Having a hysterectomy is major surgery. You will have to prepare your household for your downtime.

Here are 10 Tips for Preparing for Your Hysterectomy. Be sure to click on the related articles. What I found most helpful were the following:
-Meals in the freezer that you can just pop in the microwave
-Easy food for breakfasts and lunches
-Recovery corner with blankets and pillows
-Loose fitting clothes
-Small pillow to hold against your tummy for coughs and sneezes (I used a throw pillow from one of my couches).

Juts know we are here for you. Ask what questions you have and we will try to answer them for you.
