Re: Cervix removed?????

I think with a LAVH they have to take the cervix. I'm pretty sure that there is no option to keep it.

Re: Cervix removed?????

Yes, with the LAVH, the cervix is always removed. The LAVH is a lap assisted vaginal hysterectomy. This means that while some of the work will be done via lap incisions, once the uterus has been separate from the body it will be delivered vaginally. Since the cervix is the neck of the uterus, it makes its appearance first!

Re: Cervix removed?????

Thanks for the info. I must say I am getting nervous. Do you think that because I never had children it will be more difficult for the surgery?

Re: Cervix removed?????

(((tazmoo)))

It can be very normal to get nervous the closer surgery gets--any surgery for that matter! Some of it is simply the unknowns about having surgery where we are not in control!

But yes, if you have never had children that could compound your emotions.

Are you 100% sure this surgery is right for you? Are you having doubts since you will definitely lose your fertility? You might find it helpful to seek a second opinion, talk to your GP, and even consider seeing a counselor.

My truly goes out to you and I hope the information and support here on the site are helping you on this journey!
