No Baths? Need info

Nobody told me I could not take a bath and I am reading that it is a big no no. I asked a nurse in the hospital and she said, no problem, as long as you don't use anything but soap. I dont' think, hearing everyone else's instructions, that she knew what she was talking about. I am four weeks three days post op and my internal place is still sore. I have had spotting for about four days, nothing big but consistent. When i read that everyone else was told no baths, i stopped taking them, but i took a long soak every night since i got home from the hospital. I'm wondering if it slowed down my internal healing. I have no fevers or anything. I'm just wrecked tired all the time and still quite sore on the inside. thanks for any information.

I would check with your dr, taking baths can slow the cuffs healing and even increase chance of getting a infection in the cuff. hope you feel beter and all is okay. good luck

Hi stunned7
Doctor's orders vary on this one. My dr told me I could take baths from the start. He suggested I take them a couple times a day. He just said not to put anything in the water.

I was sore from the repairs I had done, which included tiny incisions in my labia, and the baths were very soothing. I have always thought the main danger was from infection so I was always was careful to have things clean.
I would call your dr's office and get this clarified. Most dr's who are against baths are very clear about it from the time you are discharged from the hospital. My feeling is, if you have enjoyed them all this time, it's probably ok now, but call and check it out, so you know for sure.
's, Rita

My doc said baths were ok after 3wks but no sex for 8.Now I am a bather! but I got an extremely painful infection of the pelvis after my daughter was born & attributed it to getting in the bathtub at 4wks.So I figured no sex for 8wks no tubby either. But that is just my personal thought.
