Had second opinion appt today

Well, I had my second opinion appointment at 7 am this morning.

This doctor was a dream! He was so patient, calming and informative. I had a full page of questions, thanks to this wonderful site. He spent about 45 minutes with me answering everything. He didn't rush me like doc number 1. I just get so frustrated when I feel like someone is rushing me when I am the customer.

Doc 2 agreed with me that the choice of endometrial ablation would just alleviate the symptom of bleeding and not address the cause of the bleeding. He also let me know that they really don't know the long term affects of ablation and cautioned that after an ablation, if you were to have endometrial cancer that they may not be able to detect it as easily by biopsy.

He also agreed that we couldn't just ignore the septated cyst even if I did choose ablation. Doc 1 didn't even tell me I had a septated cyst. He just said I had a small cyst. I got hold of the radiologist report after my visit to Doc 1. It said I had a small follicular cyst on the left ovary and a septated cyst in front of the right ovary so they couldn't see the right ovary. I was kind of miffed that Doc 1 neglected to tell me those details and gave me the choice of ablation or hyst but seemed to be strongly encouraging ablation. Even then, without the radiologist report, I thought to myself that ablation sounded like it was just alleviating a symptom.

Soooooo, I have definately decided to go with the hyst. Now, I am waiting for the scheduler to call so we can set a date for a TAH/BSO.

Just 8 days ago I was practically ready to go for the hyst at a moments notice even without the second opinion because I was scared to death from the continual bleeding and clots. Since the bleeding finally stopped a week ago, I have been feeling a lot better and was getting really chicken to go with the hyst, but doc 2 eased my fears and I know it is the right choice for me. Doc 2 has also agreed to take my case and be my surgeon even though he wasn't taking any new gyne patients. I'm very relieved about that. Doc 2 was my daughters surgeon for her TAH/BSO and I saw what great care he took with her.

Thanks for all your help ladies!

Connie,

I am glad that you got a second opinion and that you and you new dr. see eye to eye on your course of treatment. A good relationship with your dr. is very important. To be able to trust in him is very reassuring.

Best wishes for a rapid and uneventful recovery

(((Connie))),

That sounds great! I am so glad you got a second opinion and had such good results with it. It is important to have a caring dr you can trust & talk to after the surgery, as well.

Best wishes to you!

I'm glad you found a doctor you are comfortable with - it makes such a difference - mine is the best in my humble opinion - he's so straightforward, caring and patient with all my questions. I'm sure it will make 100% difference to how you feel about having this op.

Good luck
