Finally (children mentioned)
I am scheduled, a little over a month away, June 1st....... Can't come quick enough IMHO.........Tho, I could have scheduled for a week earlier, it was my choice to 'push it back'....My DD is in HS and plays softball, her team is currently 17-0 and headed to state playoffs that will be happening the week before the first........... My thought being, if I wait that long, another week I can do (just wish I had better pain meds )
I couldn't 'risk' her team making it 'all the way' and me fresh outta surgery......... The other thing I'm 'risking' is graduation, 3 days after surgery....I'm a schoolboard member and the is one of the 'big events' for us (and fun too ) I live in a VERY small community (we are graduating 30 this yr) Needless to say I know and love most of the class......Here's a qusestion..................How likely will it be that I could 'do' graduation? It lasts from 1 1/2 hrs to 2 hrs, I would be sitting the entire time (and could take a cushion or something to sit on if needed) Any thoughts? ( I think I know the answer, but I GOTTA ask )

Re: Finally (children mentioned)
Hi Tracerracer,
I can't imagine it would be comfortable to sit on chair at a high school for 2 hours even without having just had surgery! : ) For what it's worth, I had a LSH 2 weeks ago and have had a very easy recovery with very little pain. Nonetheless, it was uncomfortable for me to sit upright in a soft easy chair unless I had my feet propped up for the first week. Even now I will get twinges in my abdomen if I sit for the length of a whole meal in a restaurant chair.

I have to agree, but there are 'accommodations' 'we' (the board) could make, like bringing the 'good' chairs from the D.O. where we have our meetings. Like I said, I know I'm being 'stupid' asking the question.....But, I had to...........

Re: Finally (children mentioned)
Hi Traceracer,
I am having a LAVH on June 3. I am Jewish, and 3 days after my surgery is a major Jewish holiday (shavuot) that I need to cook for. My gyn just laughed and said "Not going to happen."
This is what I was told: He said I should plan on being on bed rest for about a week following the surgery. That I can't drive or go back to work for 2 weeks. And that if I do these things I will be totally recovered by 2 weeks. And that if I don't do these things and push it too much, it will take a month to recover instead.
Obviously it is up to you, but just realize that the more you do the more your recovery will be delayed.
