Hormone pills?

I told my doctor that I am having hot flashes and night sweats really bad, I went to see him for my six week checkup. I still have my overies but he told me that sometimes when they cut down there it can cut off the blood supply and therefore the estrogen gets cut off too. So he gave me some hormone pills (Enjuvia) he said take them a couple weeks and if they helped he would give me a prescrition. Should I take these? And should I consider myself in pre menapause? I am almost 42.

Re: Hormone pills?

Should you take them? There are a lot of reasons to take them and a lot of reasons not to. I trust you talked with your doctor about your specific situation and that he helped you make a wise decision.

Should you consider yourself in pre-menopause? Sure, if you want to! Join the club. It's just really hard to know if your ovaries are function and to what extent. Mine are gone now, so I am in menopause. Lots of hot flashes, some light-headedness.

Ah, well, it's better than having cancer! I'll take hot flashes everyday if it means I don't have to have that again.

Re: Hormone pills?

I would try the sample pills if I were you. What have you got to lose? I wouldn't worry about being in pre-menopause or not because after major surgery just about anything can occur as the body adjusts to the trauma. Anything you are experiencing now could certainly be temporary.

Re: Hormone pills?

I am 36 years old & having the same problem also with severe fatigue. Been on HRT for 3 weeks & it hasn't helped. Was told to take it for a month & see what happens, so will take it for a bit longer.

Re: Hormone pills?

Wow, that was fast. I will give them a try see what happens. The power surges dont bother me that much but the sweats keep me up at night and I need sleep. Its kinda crazy I get really hot then really cold, hopefully the pills will give me a happy medium.
