Almost there..

Hi ,

I had a TVH and I did not need a belly band or brace. I got up once I could urinate on my own and the IV was out I could go take a shower. You will feel not too steady at first because of the meds so you will need assisstance at first. I did well walking around once I was home. I did not find the TVH to be painful for myself and as long as I rested and did not overdo at home I healed pretty good.

I was put on the patch, but do not smoke. You need to make a list of questions to ask your dr before you have your surgery, so you will get some of the questions answered. We are all different with our hormone needs and smoking in particular needs to be addressed by your dr.

You can look at our Pre-Op articles for suggestions and ideas:
https://www.hystersisters.com/vb2/articlelist_170.htm

If you look on the left side of the page you can click on Articles and find more information and of course take a look at our Resource library.

Best wishes on your upcoming surgery and know we are here for you and just try to stay calm. Don't hesitate to ask your dr anything that you are concerned about, as that is what they are there for.

Almost there..

Hi, there!

It sounds like this surgery has been scheduled very quickly. I don't know all of the factors which went into the decision, but if you are not absolutely sure this is what you need to do right now, it's not too late to postpone your surgery until you have had more time to think about it. Unless your life is in danger, you have time to make this decision! It is in your best interest to be as relaxed as possible when you go in for your surgery, and this stress level isn't helping you any right now.

If you have determined that this is the best avenue for you to take right now, then for the next day or so, do your best to relax.

Do what you can in your house, but don't stress over it. Try to have clean sheets on the bed (or on the couch -- that's where I spent my first few weeks post-op), clean towels in the cupboard, and buy some easy foods for the first couple of weeks. Have paper plates on hand so you won't have to do dishes. Your #1 job will be to take care of yourself.

I hope you can find someone who can check up on you for the first couple of weeks, too. Even if it's just a phone call and a visit. You'll need someone to run some errands for you for a time -- whether it's to pick up meds, go to the grocery store for more supplies, or whatever.

Remember, we're here for you 24/7.
