Re: when can I bath

Most doctors will not allow bathing for the first 6 weeks, while vaginal stitches are present. Call the office, speak to the nurse. Ask her to find out from your doctor when you can bathe and she should call you back. Showers are usually okay.

Re: when can I bath

It does vary surgeon to surgeon but many say a full 6 wks. Some are more liberal but I'd go with the 6 weeks until you reach your Dr to get other instructions. The concern is water getting to the cuff and causing infection.

Re: when can I bath

I wasn't given any bathing restrictions, but it didn't matter for me...all I have is a shower. She was very clear however, about no public pools or public hot tubs. Best to ask your Drs office as each is different.

Re: when can I bath

I was told that superficial healing around the stitches happens at about 48 hours after op, then short baths are ok a few days after this.
Longer soaks are ok after 10 days (by this time the stitches are well on the way to dissolving normally, so bathing won't affect them).

I was told to pat myself dry, rather than rubbing dry.
