Anyone with urinary tract damage stories- LSH?

I've just called to schedule my LSH this December. I'm doing more reading and research on this surgery specifically, and I read an article which indicated that there is a significant risk of damage to the bladder or urinary tract.

Source Article, from medical research journal

Just wondering if this has happened to any of you, and what complications that has caused. Are they fixable?

Thanks!

I didnt have any problems with my bladder or infections, but I strongly suggest you asking your doctor what method does he uses to make sure your bladder is not nipped by accident during surgery, and the less time the catherer is on, the better, less changes for infection

my doctor injected me with a blue dye to see if my bladder was nipped or not, and after surgery, my urine was blue

Thanks you two! I'll ask the doctor about the dye, that's interesting!

yes I had damage from my hyste and it was fixable, spent 9 hours in surgery and 4 blood transfusions . had a cath for a while, but today I am fine no problems with that... yes it was no fun to wake up from surgery and hear Dr tell me oops.. he accidently cut my bladder, I ended up with an infection, so took antibitics to clear it up, but really no biggie.... it happens. and as long as it is fixable...i was ok with it....
