Had my Pre-op

Well...I had my pre-op today and there is a change in plans. The doctor who is doing the surgery is not the doctor that I originally saw when I was diagnosed with Endo. Today this doctor said that it is not necessary for her to take out my cervix and what not and do the partial hyst, mainly because she is worried about my weight. Unfortunately I am over 250 pounds, and she's telling me that my uterus is probably very low in my pelvis and to get to it may cause a lot of damage to other areas that would not need to be bothered...so she asked me if my period was so terrible that it was ruining my life...or completely debelitating (sp?) to me...and in all honesty, it's not...I'm sure that the majority of the pain is from the 8 cm cyst that is on my ovary and once that is removed we'll see how the pain goes from there.

So...in a nutshell, I still need to be opened up because of the size of the cyst, and it's in a nutshell going to be like c-section surgery...2 weeks no driving, 4-6 weeks recovery, etc...but we left things open, so if she gets in there and my uterus is a big mess, I've approved for her to go ahead and do what she needs to do and go from there.

Am I still allowed to be a member of "Hyster-Sisters" even though I'm not going the full fledge Hysterectomy route or not? I sure hope so...because you girls have been great...and the support has been amazing!

Lotsa hugs!
Jana
