5 wks post-op

Hello. I had my surgery on 01/19/10 - TAH
I was so nervous the weeks before the surgery. I had a tubiligation back in 1991 and I thought that was a rough ordeal, but much to my amazement the TAH was not half as bad or
as intense as the tubiligation, however I had back surgery in 2007 and the TAH couldn't hold a candle to that. The back surgery was no joke and I am still recuperating. I ended up having to get on disability, but that's a story in itself for another day.

Anyway all is going well with my recovery. I saw my doctor yesterday for my 5 wk post-op checkup. Outcome: Bladder infection, (painful urination) for which he prescribed antibiotics (ciprofloxacn 500 mg) and the stitches at the top of my vagina have not all disolved yet. He said that was not uncommon. No intimacy a couple more weeks. He also has me on premarin. So far no night sweats or hot flashes, not even after the surgery while still in hospital and not taking the premarin. My doctor said numbness may or may not go away. I am not too concerned about that. I am just too overjoyed about never having a period ever again to sweat the small things. My hysterectomy was worth it!!! Sorry for being so lengthy, so much to catch up on since day one...another time.. have to go to be now. also had to prescribe something for me to sleep at night (ambien) and it really works. I still get exhausted after doing very little. I'm still sleeping a lot. I stopped taking pain meds at the end of the second week. I am taking it very slow and easy. I am 47 Years old and don't want no kind of setback. More another time! Thank you hystersisters for coaching me through each stage and helping me to be prepared. I love you all! Praise God!!

Goodnight
